SPORTS MASSAGE

Massage has been used as a therapy for more than 3000 years. Sports massage is is a deep form of massage giving beneficial effects to the muscles and connective tissue. Many of the techniques used have been developed in response to the escalating increase in interest and participation in sporting activities.

Benefits include:

   Reduced stiffness after exercise

Improved flexibility and range of movement

   Improved circulation

Removal of waste products from muscles

Aids breakdown of adhesions and scar tissue

   Improved relaxation

   Improved self awareness

   Early warning of potential injury

   Faster recovery

   Injury prevention

   Improved mental alertness and clarity

Some of the effort expended when exercising is spent on overcoming the resistance of the persons own body. Tight muscles create more resistance than loose muscles. By reducing muscle tension the body becomes more efficient.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Remedial massage therapy relaxes tension in muscles, tendons and other connective tissue to relieve aches and pains. Massage and soft tissue therapy (including ultrasound therapy) can be used to rectify muscle imbalances, which cause pain and discomfort or restrict body movement. Remedial therapy speeds recovery from injury and removes restrictions in soft tissue before they reach the injury stage.

Conditions which can be helped include:

   Neck pain

   Back pain and sciatica

   Frozen shoulder

   Tennis elbow

   Groin strain

   Knee pain

   Shin splints

   Ankle sprains

   Plantar fasciitis

   Soft tissue injuries

   Postural problems

Many other conditions and injuries, including traumatic injuries, can be improved with the appropriate remedial therapy.
